In 2007, Terrell and Katie Deppe faced a major decision. They’d sold their home for a job relocation and decided to rent for a while rather than buy again — choosing to wait out the housing crisis before putting down new roots. But staying put proved harder than they expected: the first house they rented was sold, and the second was foreclosed on — both within 18 months. So Terrell made Katie an offer that was equalparts practical and adventurous: “If we’re going to have to keep moving while the financial crisis gets worked out, let’s just KEEP moving — with an RV.” With their four homeschooled children and family dog, the Deppes spent five unforgettable years exploring the country. They visited 46 states, stayed at over 350 RV parks, and discovered new places while growing closer as a family. Their travels deepened their love for the Midwest, especially with relatives nearby in Wisconsin.

Inspired by their experiences on the road, Terrell and Katie dreamed of creating a destination where travelers could feel truly welcome. In 2019, they made that dream a reality by acquiring Indian River RV Resort. They immediately set to work, shaping the park into a friendly, well-run haven that reflects their spirit of adventure and hospitality. Today, their youngest son, Jonathan, has taken on a managerial role, ensuring the family’s legacy continues.
